This looks like a really fantastic series. The politics of cycling is always discussed and over analyzed when really it all boils down to the need for people get from place to place, safely, sustainably, and economically. This is bringing the human view back to it.
This is what bicycling in Charleston looks like. Like Daniel Linas, who got hit when training for a Half Ironman, Shamel Casiah, who doesn’t own a car and who’s had 11 bicycles stolen in seven years, or Whitney Powers and her daughter Olive. They lost their husband and father Edwin Gardner in a cycling accident almost a year ago.
Gardner isn’t the only person who has lost their life on a bicycle, doing what they love or just trying to get somewhere. In an effort to help make Charleston a more bike-friendly town, we’d like to introduce you to some of the people you’re sharing the roads with.
